Thematising the sonic sphere of the everyday domestic world, No. 26 is a piece based on the compositional elements of cut and loop. No. 26 stands for the street number of the house in which the recordings were documented over a period of several weeks. The spatio-acoustic imaging takes place over a very low noise level as a delicate web of tone and sound made up of the noises produced by people’s own bodies and the objects those bodies move. The sequences of a close-range acoustic field (apartment) are ruptured by other clear noises whose source is recognisable. In that process, the everyday reveals itself as an autobiographical microcosm of recurrent sleights of hand and actions.
