The acoustic motif of the installation is the body in space, which is presented here in a conceptual situational work. The setting picks up on the living situation of the 1970s in the so-called Roses room (Rosenzimmer).
Sounding Floors was part of the exhibition SpielART in Schloss Achberg. Characteristic sound events were researched on site, recorded, partly re-staged and played back into the space as a multi-channel recording. The five round ludspeakers positioned on the floor reproduce the composition. Sound motifs of wood and step noises intermingle with the real sounds of the floor on site, which are amplified by a live circuit via six microphones positioned in the room. Reality intermingles with fiction. The historic oak wood floor becomes a stage and performance practice - a correspondence to Shakespeare and his famous quote on human beeing.
A spectral analysis visualizes the action on a monitor image on a mobile cart. Interwoven are image fragments of the historic photograph of the Roses room from the 1970s. Markings on the floor show the former positions of the furnishing of the last resident and transform the scenery once again into a stage situation.
